Lessons given by
US SAILING Certified instructors.
Each of the five 2007 Sail Camp Sessions will
consist of the following groups:
Beginning Optimist: This is for sailors age 8 to 10
with limited experience. They’ll sail double-handed, and learn
basic boat-handling skills with close supervision.
 
Intermediate Optimist: This is for sailors with some boat handling
and sailing experience, mostly ages 10 or 11. . Students sail one to
a boat but within a closely supervised group. They’ll learn more
about boat setup, sail trim and boat-handling. Racing is introduced
to this class.
 
Racing Optimist: This class will appeal to sailors who have
their own Opti and want to learn about starts, improving sail trim,
going faster, and the basics of racing strategy. They should have completed
Intermediate Optimist or have equivalent experience. This class is designed
to prepare our juniors to enter Regattas.
 
Racing 420, Laser and Scot: : This program is designed to parallel
the racing Optimist program but provide separate coaching for older
kids 12 to 17 who have outgrown Optimists and are ready to move on to
racing in Club 420s or Scots or continue single-handed dinghy racing
in Lasers or Laser Radials.
 
Group Sailing: This class is for sailors age 12 and over who
ideally have completed Intermediate Optimist class. This class sails
Flying Scots and J22’s.
Tuition
includes Camp T-shirt, sail bag and Final Friday Family Cookout. 10%
discount applied for 2 or more children per family and/or 2 or more
sessions.
Classes are limited
to 30 students per session
Please remmember, this is an outdoor camp. Most days are spent on the
water, weather permitting. Sunscreen, closed toe shoes and Vest life
jacket (Type III) required .
