Junior Sailing Program for PYC Junior Members*
PYC ’s 2007 Junior Sailing Program is tailored
to bring sailing to a higher level of participation and enjoyment for
all of our juniors by promoting improved sailing skills, safety, sportsmanship
and camaraderie. The program is designed to address the needs of all
our kids from their first class in beginning Optimist through competitive
sailing in Optimist, 420s, Lasers and Scots at local, regional and national
events. Although Sail Camp continues to be a core event for the program,
it is only one part of a larger program designed to get kids on the
water and sailing the entire year.
Junior Sailors Group 1: The program runs from March thru October.
One 4 hour session per week till June, then two 4 hours sessions/week
. This class is designed for Harbor mice/ Green fleet. Weekly
sessions are geared toward race training , together with travel to Regattas
 
Junior Sailors Group 2: This program runs from March thru October.
The class is designed for the 13yr and above crowd.Weekly sessions are
geared toward race training , together with travel to Regattas. Boats
include Club 420, Laser, Sunfish and Scot.One 4 hour session per week
till June, then two 4 hours sessions/week .
Sail Camp

Parent and Volunteer Support: There’s lots of
room for parent and volunteers to pitch in to help us with many aspects
of the program. Parents are an integral part of junior sailing and are
needed to support and coordinate various aspects of the program.

12 years and older may join Pontchartrain Yacht Club for $110/year.
